The University Interscholastic League (UIL) announced new districts and classifications for Texas high school athletics programs Thursday morning. UIL realigns districts every two years.

In football, which has the most elaborate playoffs system, Lake Ridge High School and Summit High School will join Mansfield High School in Conference 6A. Their District 7 opponents are Cedar Hill, DeSoto, Grand Prairie, South Grand Prairie and Waxahachie.

Legacy High School and Timberview High School will remain in Conference 5A. Their Division I District 6 play will include Bryan Adams, Highland Park, Samuell, Sunset, Woodrow Wilson and Lancaster.

The realignments will take effect in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

The Conference 6A cutoff for 2018-20 was set at a student enrollment of 2,190 or more. Conference 5A’s cutoff was set at an enrollment of 1,150 to 2,189 students.
