Charlotte Anderson Namesake

Our School Namesake

Charlotte Anderson Elementary School opened in September of 1986 and was dedicated October 5, 1986. It was rebuilt in 2016 into a lovely two-story building ready to welcome a new generation of Vikings. 

Charlotte Anderson began her teaching career in 1923, in Johnson County, coming to Mansfield ISD in 1930. She served the school children of this community with distinction and honor for thirty-nine years until May, 1969.

Charlotte Anderson always had the respect, admiration and love of her students, fellow teachers, parents, school staff and community. She was considered by all who knew her as an outstanding example of a great person and teacher. Ms. Anderson was dedicated in service to her church and was a contributing factor to her community.

Charlotte Anderson was born in Mansfield on November 25, 1897 to the proud parents of Robert Lee and Jerusa Alabama Light Anderson. She died Sunday, December 10, 1995, in the Vencor Hospital of Mansfield, at the age of 98. Ms. Anderson was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy Anderson, J.E. Anderson and Robert L. Anderson and one sister, Ethel Anderson Younger.
